Change of Diet Plan????
Hi Doc

I am a female aged 31 and height of 1.58 approx and weighs 70.5 kg. My BMI is about +-28 which means im overweight. I need to loose about 10 kg. I have lost a bit of weight already following a relatively low fat diet that incl. carbs,.proteins, milk, fruit & veg.

Over the past week-end I purchased a few supplements and I want to find out if it is advisable to substiute a meal eg Lunch only, with a meal replacement eg. USN meal replacement ( that have the carbs and proteins) and USN-CLA. The other meals ie. breakfast & supper I would then continue to eat healthy as I did did before with my daily routine of exercise (aerobics).

Doc, what is your taking on this, as I would love to loose the excess weight ASAP and how do you feel about the products that i have mentioned above. I was advised that it was quite safe so now I asking your opinion (Is it safe to use it?), as I would not like to suffer side effects. Your response would be appreciated.

Thanks & Regards

Dear AVR
I agree that your present BMI = 28,2 and that you need to lose about 10 kg to get back into the normal range with a BMI of 24. You can use meal replacement products such as those you mention for a meal a day. This should not cause any problems and there is some research evidence that CLA may promote weight loss. Try this regimen, but if you get bored with using a liquid meal, get back to eating a light lunch of fruit, fat-free yoghurt or cottage cheese and rye or seed bread. Also try doing some regular exercise for 30 min a day to increase your weight loss.
Best regards
