DIABETIC
I am an insulin / Rx dependant diabetic and need to loose 15 kg;s I joined a gym last year Novemeber and have been exercising regularly for 1 hour a day 4 - 5 days a week. I do a combination of cardio and resistance training (given by a biokeniticist) Initially I lost 3 kg's (in the first month) and 3 cm's. I follow a low GI eatling plan. Since then my weight has not budged. I just seem to be stuck on 92. My sugar levels have been fabulous and are well within the normal 4 - 6 range. I desperatley need to loose this weight and do not want to become demotivated. PLEASE HELP

Well you are basically doing the right things as your well controlled blood glucose levels show, but I wonder if your low GI diet is sufficiently reduced in energy content to produce weight loss? Have you consulted a clinical dietitian? If not, please do so as this is essential for anyone with type 1 diabetes. The dietitian will check your energy intake and help you reduce it so that you can lose weight. Check the List of Dietitians on this Website or phone 082-593-0276 or send an e-mail to sscharf@nhcltd.com or look in your local telephone directory or Yellow Pages, to find a dietitian in your area.
Don't lose your motivation now and keep on with the exercise.
