diet advice for 3 different diagnosis
My friend is 69 years old. She has had open heart surgery and has a stent, she also has diabetes, and diverticulitis. I would like to know what a helpful diet would be for her with all three of these things taken into consideration. She has no idea what is safe and what is not now that the diverticulitis has been added into the equation with the heart trouble and the diabetes. Please help. She is very upset about the newest disease of diverticulitis and doesn't know how to manage all three of these medical problems with a proper diet. Do you have any suggestions on a good and safe diet for her? Thanks so much.

Dear Shell
I am sorry to hear about your friend and her medical problems. Because of the complexity of her conditions it is vital that she should consult a clinical dietitian. Check the List of Dietitians on this Website or phone 082-593-0276 or send an e-mail to or look in your local telephone directory or Yellow Pages, to find a dietitian in your area. The clinical dietitian will have to work out an individual diet for your friend which makes provision for the heart problem, the diabetes and the diverticulitis. In the meanwhile click on 'Diet' and 'You are what you eat' and read the 'Healthy Heart' and the 'Health GI tract' sections.
Best regards
