Food Allergy
Having made the discovery thru the web site that I am allergic to potatoes [the symptoms are an acute carpet like red rash head to toe, swelling, fever….] I am extremely grateful that I have established at least one of the causes. I have tried to eat sweet potatoes and have had the same reaction. I am suspicious of pumpkin, butternut, gems, would they have the same properties and which other foods would have. I cannot eat fruit, anything slightly acidic, so I do need to eat more veggies. Are green peas the same peanut 'family'. I think I can tolerate dairy and wheat in moderation. Any ideas??
Thanks again

Dear Adrienne
In view of the serious symptoms you develop when you eat potato I would strongly advise you to consult a physician or an allergologist. You need to be advised which foods to cut out so also see a clinical dietitian who will help to work out a diet for you that takes the allergy and your sensitivity to fruit into account. Check the List of Dietitians on this Website or phone 082-593-0276 or send an e-mail to sscharf@nhcltd.com or look in your local telephone directory or Yellow Pages, to find a dietitian in your area. In the meanwhile visit www.allallergy.net to obtain lists of foods that may be linked to potato allergy.
Best regards
