GALLBLADDER OPERATION TWO WEEKS AGO-KEYHOLE SURGERY
Am I supposed to follow a particular diet after a gallbladder op.
I had the op two weeks ago.
I am noticing that certain things are causing me to have an upset tummy?

What happens to the fat now.

I have high cholestrole as well.

Many thanks,
Val.

Dear Val
It may be a good idea to follow a low-fat diet while you are recovering and of course for the high cholesterol. You don't mention if you had the gallbladder removed or only the gallstones? In the former case your body will still make bile which is then emptied directly into the intestine to digest fats. It is just no longer stored in the gallbladder. In the latter case your gallbladder will still function as areceptacle for the bile as before. For an example of a low-fat diet click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet'. If you don't need to lose weight then eat larger portions of the permitted foods.
