Green tea??
Hi there.

There is all this hype at the moment about green tea. What are the benefits of green tea? Whats the difference between green tea and rooibos?

Also Ive heard tomato juice is good for you - is it tomato juice, or whole tomatoes or tomato sauce? Ive heard though that the skin of tomatoes make you bloat though, is this true?

Yes, green tea has suddenly stepped into the limelight. This is because some scientific studies have produced proof that some of the components in green tea (EGCG) can assist with weight loss. Green tea has been used for centuries as a general health drink and now it is also being used for weight loss. Rooibos tea does not contain the same compounds as green tea, but it is also healthy as it contains plenty of so-called phytates that have a protective effect. Any form of tomato product, including tomato sauce, juice, paste, etc, is rich in lycopene, a phytonutrient and powerful antioxidant that protects against degenerative diseases, esp certain forms of cancer. You will have to experiment with tomato products to see if they cause bloating in your case as this is generally an individual reaction. Most of the high-lycopene tomato products like tomato sauce, etc, don't contain any skins.
