Hunger Supressant
Good day, I am a Cardiac Arterial Disease sufferer and have had Angiogram surgery before. I am reasonably fit and excersize regularly. I however maintain a healthy appetite and would like to subdue my hunger pains, especially in trianing for a sporting event. Could you suggest a supressant I could use for this prupose?
Dear Salmo
In view of your heart condition, I would strongly urge you NOT to take ANY appetite suppressant as they all have negative side-effects. Appetite suppressants that contain pseudo-norepinephrine specifically can cause irregular heartbeats and even fibrillation. Other 'diet pills' can cause dehydration which is also dangerous. If you feel hungry before or during an event, this is your body indicating that it needs energy and it is advisable for you to use an energy bar or drink to supply you with energy for the event. Experiment with the different energy drinks such as Powerade, Lucozade or Energade to see which one best agrees with you. To maintain energy levels during strenuous exercise it is usually necessary to have a high-energy drink before, during and immediately after the event.
Good luck with the training, but do take care
