I have tried several diet, I drink lot of water but I always constipated, and eating as usually. Sometimes I spend a week to 8 days witohout going to the toilet Please advice
Dear Roger
Constipation may be an indication of an underlying physical problem. I would therefore suggest that you first have a medical examination to rule out such underlying problems. If you are given a clean bill of health, then you can try increasing the amount of dietary fibre you eat: eat more fruit, vegetables, unsifted and unprocessed grains and cereals (hi-fibre bran cereal, brown rice, wholewheat or seedloaf bread, legumes, etc) and cooked dried fruit. If this still does not help after a period of 3 weeks, then I would suggest that you use a gentle laxative such as Fybogel (buy at chemist). Do not use harsh laxatives as they can disturb your normal bowel function. To lose weight you need to follow a low-fat, high-fibre diet (click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet' for a copy) and to do regular exercise (join Walk for Life or a good gym). The exercise will also help for the constipation.
Best regards
