Hi Doc

I weigh 72kg and am trying to lose weight. Most of my weight has ended up on my hips, and i wear a size 14 (38) pants, but a size 10 top. How many kilos will i have to lose in order to drop a pants size?

Dear Anne
The problem about weight loss and human metabolism, is that it is impossible to predict how fast and where you will lose weight. The hips are one of the female 'fat depots' which developed over hundreds of thousands of years to store fat for emergencies when food was scarce, so this is one of the last places you will lose weight. Overall weight loss will also have its effect on the hips, but this may take time. To promote weight loss in specific areas, you need to do targeted exercises, such as hip rolls. Ask Fitness Doc on this Website for a set of home exercises that target the hips.
Good luck
