Movicol
Will using Movicol on a daily basis help me to lose weight?
Dear Suzanne
It is not a good idea to use any laxative to try and lose weight because of the following reasons: 1) constant use of a laxative can cause loss of normal bowel movements, 2) chronic diarrhoea caused by excessive use of laxatives can cause nutrient deficiencies and/or dehydration due to excess loss of water 3) the 'weight' you lose with laxatives is mainly water, so when you drink liquids again, the 'weight' will return.
Rather use a sensible energy-reduced diet and exercise to lose weight.
Take care
