Nutritional requirements kids aged 7-10
Please could you be more specific about diets for children aged 7 - 10: how many portions of protein, starch, fruit, dairy and veg daily are required, I have read the other information about breakfast etc, but it is not specific enough.

Thanks.

Dear Laurel
I published articles on the food intake of children on the 'Child' section of the Health24 website. Click on 'Child' at the top of this page and access the articles on "Diets for Schoolchildren aged 7-10 years". I did not specify exact quantities of each food group because this depends on the activity level of the individual child. I would recommend that you consult a clinical dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: www.adsa.org.za and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area), for a diet for a specific child. Basically children between the ages of 7-10 years would eat the same foods as adults, but in smaller quantities.
