pap pap pap
Hi Doc i'm on a diet and i love pap. i eat pap three times a week.i eat pap with cabbage ,spinach ,and fresh salads, etc and chicken breast.i eat it in small quantities though.will this sabotage weight loss?

Carbohydrates like maize meal porridge or pap, are not fattening (16 kJ/gram), but if you add lots of butter or full-cream milk or sugar to the pap, then you would be increasing the energy content. So pap as such will not sabotage your weight loss. If you can find unsifted maize meal which has a higher fibre content, then it is even better for dieting as the high fibre content reduces the energy value and the unsifted version also has a good taste. Interestingly if you cook pap and let it cool down before you eat it, it also has a low glycaemic index which makes it a good option for weight loss.
