Dear Anne
Congratulations on the birth of your son. Losing weight after pregnancy can be quite difficult. If you are no longer breast feeding your son you can try an energy-reduced, low-fat, high-fibre diet (click on 'Diet' at the top of this page, 'Weight loss', ‘The right approach' and then on 'Slimming Diet' for a copy of such a diet). Try to increase your energy output by doing regular exercise (running, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, join a gym or Walk for Life) to lose that weight. I am not in favour of slimming pills and potions because they all can cause negative side-effects and cost a lot of money and don't deliver the results. Rather use the diet and exercise and stay healthy. There is some evidence that taking a calcium and magnesium supplement may help to prevent preeclampsia. Discuss this with your gynae when next you plan to fall pregnant.
Best regards
