2. Which vitamin / mineral supplements are highly recommended for women of age 40+ ?
Dear Nebo
Under point 1) do you mean that these individuals take a vitamin pill instead of eating a meal? If this is so, it is a very bad dietary habit. The vitamin and mineral supplements cannot supply the body with so-called macronutrients (proteins, carbs and fats), which our bodies need to function properly. If you want to lose weight reduce your energy intake (cut down on fat intake) and increase your energy output by doing regular exercise (at least 3 times a week for good results).
In answer to point 2) - you can take any one of the complete vitamin and mineral supplements such as Centrum or Supradyn Forte, with additional calcium (Calcium Sandoz) if you have a tendency to osteoporosis.
Best regards
