Supplements
I have read the article on the tests conducted on south african supplements and I am shocked.
How can we buy south african products (supplements) if we can't trust them to provide what's written on the labels?
Do you have the name of the BioPro products that passed the test? I need to take a high potency B complex, zink, silinium and vit A,E and C. Any specific product range that you can suggest?
Thank you

Dear Mack
I am not sure which article you are referring to. In a recent edition of the SA Medical Journal an article entitled: "An evaluation of nine probiotics available in SA, August 2003" was published by Elliott & Teversham. The authors tested 9 probiotic preparations for content of viable microorganisms and found that only 3 of the 9 products tested contained the bacteria indicated on the label and 5 products contained sufficient bacteria for a probiotic effect. These 5 products were: BioPro Reuteri (straws & chew tabs); Combiforte capsules; Culturelle sachets; Infantiforte capsules. All the products which were tested were probiotics, i.e. 'good bugs', not vitamins and minerals. If you could post Another Message and let me know where you read the article you are referring to, I would be most appreciative.
For vitamin and mineral supplements you can use the Centrum or Supradyn ranges.
Best regards
