Dear Mandy
I apologise for only answering your question today, but I had to have an operation last Wednesday, and although I informed the boffins who administer the Message Board, they failed to block incoming messages while I was in hospital.
Your thyroid may well be implicated, but if you already take Eltroxin in quite a high dose then this should not be the problem. Please consult the prescribing dr and ask him/her to do thyroid function tests and to check on your insulin and female hormones. It is possible that you may have developed another problem such as insulin resistance or polycystic ovarian syndrome in the interim and that this is what is causing the massive weight gain.
Let's first see what the tests show and then make changes to your diet.
Best regards
