toast diet
heard about this diet to lose weight by having only tea &  toast the entire day whenever you hungary. Apparently the bread is not fattening or heavy once it is toasted. It loses all its carb/protein content. Is this true? Will I lose weight?

Dear Safs
Toasting bread reduces the moisture content, BUT it does not change either the carb or protein or energy content! Eating only toast and drinking tea all day long is not a balanced approach to weightloss. With such a minimalistic diet you would probably lose weight because your energy intake will be reduced primarily due to cutting out fats, but besides being monotonous such a diet would cause deficiencies. Rather use a balanced energy-reduced, low-fat, high-fibre diet (click on 'Diet' at the top of this page, 'Weight loss', ‘Balanced diet’ and then on 'Slimming Diet' for a copy of such a diet), and increase your energy output by doing regular exercise (running, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, join a gym or Walk for Life) every day for 30 min.
