i like to drink beer but i am worried that i will get a beer belly if i start to drink whiskey and water will i stil get n tummy?? i only drink on weekends and say once a during the week
Dear Renier
It is not the fact that a person drinks beer or any other type of alcohol that causes them to develop abdominal obesity or a so-called "beer belly', but rather that the ingestion of large amounts of alcohol increase the daily energy intake to a level that exceeds the person's requirement. Ingesting more energy than you require will then lead to weight gain, which in men is often in the abdominal area. So you need to decide if your intake of beer (516 kJ per 300 ml) or whiskey (313 kJ per 30 ml tot) is increasing your energy intake to this level where it will cause fat production. Having 1 drink a day should not increase your energy intake excessively, but it is always better to use alcohol in moderation and not every day.
Best regards
