What food is good for my liver?
I have been taking a number of painkillers over the last few months (for tension headaches) and the result has been several liver infections (treated by my homoeopath). What food/s can I eat that will offset my use of painkillers?
Dear Titch
If you tend to get liverish then you need to cut out fatty foods, all alcohol and concentrate on eating a diet based on fresh fruit and vegetables, fat-free milk and dairy products, wholewheat and unprocessed grains, lean meat, and fish, with only 4 eggs a week. Drink 3-4 cups of water in addition to your regular liquid intake (not more) and cut down on coffee. Take vitamin B complex and products like Guronsan to detox your liver. You also need to learn to relax so that you don't get tension headaches all the time. Try yoga, deep breathing, relaxing exercises (buy a tape or consult a clinical psychologist to teach you relaxing techniques) and go for walks in the fresh air.
Hope you feel better soon.
