Dear Nono
Your present BMI = 31,2, which is very high. It would be advisable to try and reduce your BMI to 25, for which you would need to weigh 63 kg (a loss of 15 kg. There are many different reasons why individuals struggle to lose weight, such as insulin resistance, female hormone imbalances, depression, the after-effects of repeated use of fad diets, effects of medications, a slow metabolic rate, etc. I would advise that you consult a registered dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area), for an assessment because you may be suffering from a condition such as insulin resistance and need to use a low-Glycaemic Index (GI) diet which the dietitian will have to help you with. It is also important to increase your energy output by doing regular exercise for at least 30 min a day(running, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, join a gym or Walk for Life). While you are on the ‘Diet & Nutrition’ site, read about every aspect of slimming.
