Please can you advise me if there is any other subsitute for Xenical, my medical aid do not pay for it. (In fact I was told by doctor and pharmacist no medical aid pays for Xenical) What ingredients make up Xenical and is there something else on the shelve's that I can buy cash that is not so expensive.
(Xenical price +- between R600.00 and R780.00 for 84 tablets)
Please I need help as I have 55kg to loose. My weight now is 114kg and I am 1.63m tall, so my ideal weight must be about 58-65kg. I tried weigh-less before (about 5 x times) loose a few kilograms and then I just pick them up all over again.

Dear Reader
I believe that your dr can motivate for Xenical seeing that your obesity is life-threatening. As far as I know, there is no other product that has the same fat-trapping effect and until Xenical is no longer sold under its patent, there are no generic substitutes. Because you have such a large amount of weight to lose, I would suggest that you discuss other options with your dr, such as medications which contain sibutramine, and possibly products such as Glucophage as you may well suffer from insulin-resistance. I would strongly recommend that you consult a clinical dietitian to assist you with your weight loss (check the List of Dietitians on this Website or phone 082-593-0276 or send an e-mail to or look in your local telephone directory or Yellow Pages, to find a dietitian in your area), especially if you have insulin-resistance. Try combining your weight loss diet with exercise - start off very gently by walking for 10 minutes a day and then increase how far and fast you walk as your weight decreases. You need some assistance to lose such a large amount of weight and your dr and dietitian will provide this kind of support.
