My child had grommets inserted in 2008. One is out but the other is still in the ear...should we take it out or leave it there?
This ear is always having infections after another..
Please help.

Dear Monde

Grommets are a temporary solution to poor ventilation of the middle ear. The grommets should stay in for no longer than two years, exept in specific cases were they are intended to stay in for longer. You need to see your ENT, as this grommet may need to be removed, even if he may need them again in a few mionths time.
