Egg Quality
Doc
I have endometriosis and had my first IVF in March. My eggs were small and not good developed when they extracted it (They got 10 eggs). 3 eggs fertilized but only grow to stage 2. They then went into recess. Is there anything that I can do to help the eggs developed better? I am going for my next IVF at the end of May. I have read that acupuncture can help with the blood flow and that it might help. Do you know of an acupuncture practitioner? I live in the Northern Cape. Please tel me if there is anything else that I can do.

Dear Maia
The details regarding the egg quality are relatively sketchy and therefore I would require a lot more information to be of assistance in this regard. It is very likely that the egg development may have been incomplete and that the eggs were extracted at an immature stage (GV stage) rather than at a more mature metaphase two stage. Also the fact that only 3 eggs fertilised and then arrested at the second stage would imply a possible male factor component as well and therefore more information regarding the sperm analysis may be of great value in this situation. Furthermore the stimulation regimen that was used in trying to develop the follicles and the stage at which the follicles were aspirated would provide invaluable information for your next IVF cycle.
