Tender breasts but negative preg test.
Hi doc,

I have PCOS and have been on metformin for 3 months, I have had very sore and tender breasts for the past 12 days, I cant even sleep on my tummy.

I did pregnancy test yesterday morning and it was negative, could I still be pregnant?
How long after your breasts become tender will a preg test show positive if you are pregnant.

please advise asap.

Dear Candy

Unfortunately breast tenderness is a totally non-specific sign of pregnancy and can occur in various circumstances including hormonal imbalance as well as local breast pathology. The only specific test is a blood pregnancy test (quantititative).
