Why does Medical Aid not pay for Infertility Treatment
Hi
I would like to know if you know why Medical Aids do not cover any costs with regards to Infertility treatment, seeing that it is quite common these days.

Despite the fact that the government has recognised and has recommended that medical aids regard fertility problems as a prescribed minimum benefit, most medical aids still refuse to re-imburse for such treatment.
There are a handful of medical aids that do make a contribution to fertility treatment, but by and large, as a general rule, most medical aids are not willing to compensate at this point in time. We have tried on occasion to negotiate with administrators to cover costs and hope to still have greater success addressing this issue in the near future.
