Hi Lilo

It is a bit of a jargon-word, because technically, all exercise causes all the same responses, no matter what you do (just to varying degrees), but the distinction that people make is between resistance training and cardio training. In resistance training, you lift weights, you are pretty static, the heart rate and breathing etc are not elevated all that much, whereas cardio is dynamic and increases heart rate, breathing rate, and generally invovles the whole body. So, things like running, cycling, aerobics, swimming, walking, tae-bo, rowing would all be considered as cardio.

Hope this helps
