Excercises to slim down heavy, thick ankles
Dear Doc

I am a 37 year-old mother of 3.

I have lost a lot of the weight gained during my pregnancies, but I still have heavy, thick ankles which I have had most of my life.
I recently paid a visit to a vascular surgeon and a plastic surgeon, for advice on my ankles. The plastic surgeon does not recommend liposuction and the vascular surgeon suggested I try non-surgical alternatives.
Can you suggest some excercises specifically for ankles / shins / calves.

HI Karenb

I must confess that I don't know of any specific exercises that target the ankles - in fact, there are none, because you can't target specific muscle groups even, never mind the ankle where you don't have the muscle mass like the abs or arms etc.

So the only thing that will work is to lose more overall body fat. I'm not sure what your present weight is, but perhaps you can continue to lose to come down to a target weight if you are not already there. If you are, then I'm afraid that you are going to have to consider surgical alternatives.

Good luck
