Excess Fat
I am 20 years old, 1.69 m tall and weigh 62 kg. I am not eating properly but have decided to change that and join the gym. I ideally want to lose 7 kg, so I want to weigh 55. I don't wan't to build muscle, I just want to lose the excess fat. What exercises at the gym can I do that would not make me bulky.

Dear Kate,

You are at a good weight for your height, with a body mass index of 21.6 (19-24 is "normal" weight)! Losing 7 kg would push you close to "underweight" which may be unhealthy and unreasonable.

Anyways, if you wish to lose "fat" weight without building muscle, than target exercises that forcus on long duration at low intensities. If you wish to do weights, than do high repetition (3 sets of 10-15 repetitions) with low weights. Running, spinning and swimming the "LSD" way (long slow distance) would best suit your goals.

Please be careful and do not obsess over the scale, as you are at a healthy bodyweight and should feel pretty darn good about the way that you look!

Best of Luck!
