Hi Maureen
I'm really sorry that a biokineticist was not able to assist you. However, and this is not great news for you, it would be unrealistic for me to expect that I could advise you on exercises that won't hurt considering that you have had hands on assistance which did hurt. I would not want to give you specific exercises that might do more damage because there is no way of monitoring your progress. Now, I don't know what this biokineticist has done for you but all you can do is just experiment until you find some exercises that you can do without pain. One would be cycling in a very easy gear or level, because the load on the knees is lower. Weight training would have to be done using very light weights as you get stronger. Walking is an option, if it doesn't hurt you. However, these are all things that the bio would have tried. So, my advice would be to try them but at a lower level - use lighter weights, walk shorter, cycle at an easier pace, and it may work for you.
Good luck
