Hyperglycaemic and how it will affect training on a protein diet
Hi I am hyperglycaemic fasting glucose and I do martial arts. I am currently on a protein diet to lose weight to firm up . I am eatin g a little carbs, what exactly should I eat?
Hi Mich
I'm not going to make any great claims to be a diet expert, and so I have to refer you on to Diet Doc with this one. One thing that I do have to say is that I'm not a fan of a low carb diet - I assume you are referring to either the Atkins' diet or a variation on it, and I really don't know of many conventional dieticians who support it, and particularly for active people, sustaining an active lifestyle on so few carbs may be harmful. I would therefore discuss this with a dietician, and see what they suggest for your particular case. My advice however would be to steer clear of a low carb diet, unless you want to compromise the exercise part of this programme.
Good luck
