Knee problems
I have problems with both my knee's so i would like to know what the best cardio exercise is as to put the least strain on my knees?
Hi Sash
It depends on what the cause of the knee pain is – there are some conditions where you can run, others where you can’t and cycling is better. Others, like ITB can affect both running and cycling in some cases, and in others, won’t affect either. So the short answer is that you really need to sort out the problem first and then you can exercise however you please. This also makes long term sense, and so it would be the best thing. However, I would suggest that if you wanted to try some exercises, the place to start would be the non-impact forms – swimming and cycling come to mind. Judge according to pain whether you can continue to do them or not. Again, however, the best would just be to get the problem sorted out, either by seeing a physio or a doctor.
Good luck
