Metabolism
I calculated my RMR to be 1434.8 what exactly does this mean? Thanks
Hi Dave
RMR means resting metabolic rate, and it is most likely a number in Calories which estimates your daily energy expenditure. It does sound really low though, so I'm guessing that it might only be a estimation of your total energy expenditure if you were at rest for a full day. Of course, you are not, because even walking to the car, making breakfast etc. all increase your metabolic rate for a short time, and so in truth your energy use for a day will be slightly higher than this. The general aim is to aim for a minimum of 2000 Cal per day, because that's what most people will use in a day. Of course, remember that all this is estimation, and so getting an exact measurement would be a lot more difficult. For this reason, I would actually recommend using your discretion in how you interpret this - I don't think that it's all that relevant to things like weight loss, and it creates possibility for real abuse and a nightmare to monitor everything you do. The better option is just to eat healthy foods, exercise well, and the rest will take care of itself.
Good luck
