SORE LEGS
I HAVE BEEN DOING EXCERCISES AT HOME LATELY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CALVES ARE SO SORE. I CAN'T EVEN ALK BECAUSE THEY ARE SO SORE. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING AND FEEL BECAUSE MY LEGS COULD NOT HOLD ME. MY CALVES ARE PULLING TIGHT. IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR A WEEK. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS? IS IT NORMAL TO BE STIFF FOR SO LONG? AM I WORKING MY CLAVES TOO HARD?

Hi

Sore muscles are caused by very microscopic damage to the muscle fibres, and it's usually not too hard to pinpoint a cause. You will probably have to do some detective work and think back to a session or activity you did that would have caused this pain. You did say you've been doing exercises lately, and I would suspect that perhaps you've been skipping, maybe doing some running or some calf muscles specific exericses, which would have caused this muscle damage. What happens after the muscle has been damaged, is that it gradually begins the repair process, and it usually repairs itself stronger than before - the result is that you get stiff and sore less often after a period of training. That is why people are always stiff after the first time they do something new, like play squash, or run, or ride.

So, in your case, perhaps just back off the calf exercises, or the running or skipping and just give your body a little chance to catch up, and repair. Then, make small increases in the training and you should be able to handle the future training without this sort of pain.

Good luck
