Training with a common cold
I;ve just started to get on top of my weight training and have ended up with the flippin iritating dreaded common cold! Should i continue training, or could this lead to more complications like 'Flu'?
Hi AJ
If you are 100 percent sure it is just a common cold, then it is OK to continue training at a much lower intensity than before. You will probably find that you feel a little poorly when you train anyway, making it more difficult for you to keep the level up - that is OK, you kind of just have to accept that you wont be super strong or your normal self for a while.
Having said that, I also suggest that you consider taking a day or two off. Its not vital and many people get away with a few days of easier training, but maybe your system needs a break and the cold is your body telling you this. in this case, a day or two off, while frustrating, will not be catqstrophic for your overall fitness goals and programme, and it will help you get back to normal sooner perhaps.
Good luck
