I train 6 times a week, 4 being cardio (all machines on intensity level 5) and 2 upper & lower body toning (20kg on arms and 50kg on legs). I have been training for about a month now and can feel the difference as I feel more energetic. However my problem is that I have not seen a change around my abdomen area. I normally do about 12 reps 5 sets on the rotary torso and the abdomen machine. I cannot do situps as my back hurts. Is there anything else that I can do, or would the cardio in the long run assist with the fat loss.

HI Zee

It's probably too short to see changes anyway - you must remember that to cause visible fat loss in one particular region takes some doing. Many many people struggle with this problem. The solution is cardio though. I think that you should certainly continue with your abdomen exercises, because these are important to develop muscle in this area and to gain some definition, but the most important thing is the fat loss and for this, only cardio will do. Remember though that you must aim for all round losses - you can't trick the body into losing only in one area - it will use fat from all the body's sources, including the stomach, and so with time (and a good diet, very important!) you will achieve the results you are after, but be patient and keep at it!

Good luck
