Hi i've just been with a guy and we never anally penetrated. We used lube and he rubbed his penis against my bum and he came. Can Aids be transferred through lubrication? It was waterbased.

Hi Ian

You don't need anal penetration for HIV infection to occur.

HIV is transmitted via body fluids. If your partner was HIV positive, his semen and blood would contain the virus. However, semen or blood on your intact skin would pose no risk of infection, as the virus needs to enter your blood-stream. If you had a fresh cut or open sore on your bum, for example, the virus could have entered your blood-stream there.

Based on what you describe I'd say this was a low-risk situation.

HIV cannot be transferred through lube. A good water-based lube can actually help to prevent HIV infection - using lots of good lube during anal sex can reduce the risk of condom breakage.
