33 no period 5 yrs
Dear Dr I had my first baby 5 years ago. Have not had a menstrual cycle since but have had a further 2 healthy babies. So within a period of 5 years I have had 3 children. My menstrual cycle returned 4 months ago but it is VERY painful and I am bleeding heavily. I use supa plus tampons as well as a thick pad and I still leak. What is wrong with me? I had a sterilization after my 3rd baby. SHe is now 18 mnths old. I don't have a medical aid so going to a specialist haz not been possible for me. My children are at home with me and we only have 1 car which my husband uses to work. Do you have any advice for me?

If you were on hormonal contraception before, stoppping this after the sterilisation may have resulted in your periods being heavier than usual. I think you will have to see a doctor and be examined to check that nothing is wrong. If you can't afford to go privately, public hospitals will see you. In terms of transport, some hospitals are open on Saturday mornings.

Best wishes
