Best pill for my depression
Hi there,
I wonder if you could give me any advice. I have long term depression that is pretty well controlled, and I generally manage fine (I take 5htp, SAMe and a few other supplements - I tried various medications, but had side effects, and this balance seems to be the most effective for me).

Although I am obviously prone/sensitive to go through depression, and with stress, and things going on in my life, it gets a lot worse at some points than others. I have however noticed that every month now when I am PM I go through a very serious bought of it for a few days (to the point of feeling suicidal). I am wondering if there is not a better pill for me, it seems the hormones involved at that time are wiping out my defenses.

I am currently on Yasmin, which sounded like one of the best options out there for me at the time (been on it for years). Going off is not really an option as I have had to be on some kind of pill since early days because of Acne. (I' m now 33). Although I have acne, I have been tested, and do not have high levels of testosterone, just react to it.

Sorry to be so long-winded! - any advice would be much appreciated.

The Pills are all pretty similar and it is unlikely that changing to another Pill will have much effect on your premenstrual mood changes. Using Prozac for a week before menses has been found to help in some women.

Best wishes
