Complicated ovarian cyst
Saw Gynae, did probe scan because of severe period pain. Found complicated cyst, maybe a bleed in. Put on Primolut N for ten days and to see her again after that to see whether cyst has disappeared or surgery. Does ovarian cysts be successfully treated this way - are most cysts non cancerous or what would any other symptoms be if it was. Would the gynae be able to judge whether it was suspicious or not. Please reply asap.

If you are under 40 years old, most cysts are non-cancerous and can be treated with hormonal therapy. If there has been a bleed into te cyst, this may not be quite as successful. There are suspicious signs which can be detected on ultrasound. I would agree with your gynaecologist's management in reviewing the situation in10 days.

Best wishes
