Does a D&C damage a cervix?
Last year I miscarried at 18 weeks pregnancy and this year at 21 weeks. I have 2 children, both delivered by c-section. The first was because he was transverse (or something like that) and the second was because of excessive bleeding during the pregnancy. I would just like to know why did I miscarry even though my cervix is not short. The miss at 18 weeks was due to an infection I had, after which a d&c was done. Could my cervix have been hurt during the d&c because the doc who did it told me she had given me a stitch down there due to excessive bleeding. How long should I wait before falling pregnant again and what are my chances of having another miscarriage?
It is possible that there could have been damage to the cervix from the birth. It is advisable to wait at least 3 months before trying again. If you do have cervical incompetence a stitch around the cervix would help prevent miscarriages.
