Drug use during early pregnancy
Someone I know has just found out she is pregnant, we do not know how far but we are concerned as she has been using cocaine as well as the generic for stilnox occasionally - will that already have had a negative effect on the baby. She is not a regular drug user she only used it 2 or three times during the last month.

The effects of caocaone in preganncy are the following :
Rate of spontaneous abortion was increased as high as 38%. Increase in low birth weights,growth retardation, impairment of orientation and motor behaviors, increased number of abnormal reflexes, inability to achieve alert states, teratogenic effects - genitourinary tract, cardiac abnormalities, and cerebral infarctions.
If she stops now, the most likely problems which could occur would be miscarriage or abnormalities in the fetus.
