Epilepsy and Pregnancy

My fiance and I both have epilepsy. We are thinking of having children and would like to start planning for that. I spoke with 2 doctors who gave me different advice and now I do not know what to do.

My fiance takes 400mg Epinutin daily and his is also controlled. I am a 25 year old woman. I take 600mg of Tegretol a day and have not had a seizure in two years but I understand that the Tegretol is bad for the baby. What do we need to do?

Of the anti-epileptics, Tegretol is the one of choice in pregnancy. While there may be some side effects, it is far worse to have uncontrolled seizures. Renira is not correct.
