Mirena vs. loop or injection?
Hi Doc
I have had the Mirena for 2 years now and it is definitely not working the way it should be, my period last 3 weeks and it killed my sex drive almost destroying my marriage. I am getting it taken out and wanto know the following: What would be the better next step? The loop or the injection? Which one would have a less effect on me for loss of sex drive and which would be the safest option for not getting pregnant? Also which would be better in relation with skin problems and weight gain etc. The pill does not work for me as I got my son being on the pill. My sister got all 3 her children while on the pill funny enough, so it must be that the pill does not work with our family. Please help.

All contraceptives have side effects and they are differnt. The loop is more likely to give you heavy periods but should not affect your sex drive. The injection stops your periods but may affect your sex drive. The injection is probably a bit safer in terms of pregnancy prevention. Neither the loop nor the injection will be helpful for skin problems.
