Placenta Praevia

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and my doctor diagnosed me with placenta praevia yesterday. He dropped words such as hysterectomy, major complications,... and now I'm completely panicked.
Can you provide more information.
I would really appreciate it.

If the placenta remians low, you will need a caesarean section. Ocassionally, there can be excessive bleeding which cannot be stopped and this could necessitate a hysterectomy. Your doctor is warning you of the possibility but it is by no means the usual course of events.
