polycystic ovarian syndrome
Hi
A friend has the above syndrome and has been treated, amongst other things with a glucophage medication. Could you give me a simple explanation of how this syndrome affects insulin secretion and why her gynae said she may become diabetic?
Thanks
Ethan

PCOS is associated with many clinical presentations....one of which may be insulin resistance and, if not treated, could result in less sugar control..hence diabetes. Hence the medication your friend is using.
