I have a constant high pitch sound in my ears - sometimes louder than others. Also recently when i lie down my ears feels as if there is bubbles moving around in my inner ear. I do get a lot of headaches specially coming from the back of my neck. hat could this be?

Dear Sufferer,

The high-pitched sound that you are hearing is called “tinnitus”. There are many causes of tinnitus, some of which can be treated successfully, and others that cannot. One of the causes that can be treated is muscle tension in the muscles of the head and neck. Tension in these muscles is also one of the major causes of headaches, so there is a very good possibility that both your headaches and your tinnitus can be treated. The “bubbles moving in the inner ear” can also be caused by muscle tension.
