Excruciatingly painful joints
I have excruciating pain in my joints. A few days ago I was walking to work when my legs failed me. The pain was so severe I could not even get up from the ground. I was taken to a clinic and took X-rays but the doctor could not pick up anything. Could I be suffering from osteoporosis or arthritis?
Please help I don't know what to do.

Dear Cynthia
Osteoporosis is totally painless unless you have a fracture. Arthritis can be very painful but you need to see a physician who can do a thorough physical examination and other tests if necessary to determine the cause of your pain and whether this is arthritis or not. Ask your GP to refer you or try and make an appointment with the Internal Medicine department or the Rheumatatology dept at your local Provincial Hospital. Hope this helps.
