Dear Kgabiso
Fibromyalgia is one of the most common rheumatic syndromes affecting 3-10%of the general population and specifically women between the ages of 20-50.
The cause is unknown. It causes chronic, aching pain of the entire body, but more prominently in the shoulders, neck, lower back and hips. Fatigue, sleep disorders, headaches and irritable bowel symproms are common. Physical examination is usually normal except for the pain trigger points in the shoulders, knees and elbow.
Fibromyalgia is usually treated with some form of tricyclic antidepressant like Amitryptaline. Exercise programs may also help.
You are definitely not the only out there with this- as I said it is an extremely common disorder. Maybe someone out there has another suggestion as to what helps for their pain?
