Sharp pain in hips while sleeping
Hi Doc,
When I sleep on my one side for to long, I get this extreme sharp pain in my hip (inside the joint). It happens with both sides. By the time I need to get up in the mornings, both my hips are hurting so much that I want to die. It does not get better or worse when I move my hips and it does not feel like a muscle pain. I haven't had any injury to any of the hips and I am taking Calmax +.
My mother and grandmother had severe cases of osteoporosis. My mother's got osteo-arthritis in both her hands and the doctors already operated on both her hands. It did not help much (she is still very young - 51).
Can you tell me why I get these pains? Is there anything I can do to reduce the pain in my hips?

Dear Adel
You are probably worried that you have osteo-arthritis like your mother. Although osteoporosis has a strong genetic trend, you are still too young(age?) to worry about that.
I suggest you also see a physician who specialises in rheumatology to examine you properly and send you for the necessary tests and x-rays if necessary. I would rather not speculate about cause of your pain- have too little info.
