Which inhaler are you currently using?
Leukotrine receptor antagonists include drugs such as Singulair and Accolate and is indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma. It contains both bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory activity. They show additive effects to inhaled corticosteroids and may be considered as add-on therapy in asthmatics already using inhaled steroids and may even reduce the dose or frequency of inhaled corticosteroids. In future it may even be used as an alternative to inhaled steroids. It is however not indicated for relief of an acute asthma attack and must be taken regularly to be effective in prophylaxis.
